She was a native of Schenectady, NY and had lived in Downers Grove, IL, Sturgis, MI, Des Moines, IA, Schenectady, NY and was currently residing in Waynesville, NC. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Madeline Tomasi Sheehan and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy in Schenectady, NY. Shirley was a woman of compassion and drive. While living in Illinois, she served as a volunteer at Maryville Academy.
