Canton

Janice McFalls Camp, a beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025.

Born on January 31, 1947, in Haywood County, Janice devoted her life to her family, career, and passions, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her. As a lifelong native of Haywood County, she had graduated in the last class of Bethel Highschool. Janice dedicated 27 years of her professional life to Haywood Community College, where her commitment to education and the community made a significant impact.

She was known for her extraordinary attention to detail, whether it was assisting with color coordination for dances, preparing for baby showers, or creating memorable celebrations for family events. She never missed a Wednesday hair appointment. Her caring nature was evident not just in her work, but also in her personal life.

She found joy in nurturing her flower garden, cooking for her loved ones, and bringing smiles to their faces with her home-cooked meals, particularly as a special after-school treat for her sweet great-niece Delaney. A lover of literature, Janice enjoyed immersing herself in mystery novels, especially those written by Agatha Christie. Her heart was vast and full of love, not only for her family, but also for animals, reflecting a spicy soul that resonated with all around her.

Janice is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Philip "Mike" Camp; three adored sons, Edward Burris, Heath Burris, and Joshua Camp; and a family that includes three loving grandchildren and six cherished great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a devoted nephew, Scott Oates, and his wife, Jennifer, along with Janice’s special great-niece, Delaney Oates, whom she loved dearly.

She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, Edward and Beatrice McFalls, and her sister, Judy Oates, finding peace in their embrace once more.
