George "Andrew" Radford

George “Andrew” Radford, 79, of Candler, NC, joined his mother in Heaven Sunday, April 20, 2025.

He adored his wife and was a constant source of love, laughter, and strength to his family. Smart, courageous, and selfless, he helped anyone in need while never asking for help in return. He was the best father and a devoted “Pop” to his grandkids. He loved fishing and being at the lake with his best friend of over 60 years, Junior Duncan. He made us laugh until his last moments and was loved fiercely.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Velma Radford, and good friend, Layla Scott.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Radford, who was his greatest blessing; a son, Mark Radford; daughter, Michelle Cole; grandkids: Tyler Moss, Parker Cole, Piper Cole, and Theresa Radford; sister, Brenda Parham; brother, Gary Radford; brother-in-law, who was like a son to him, Mike Smith; sister-in-law, Julia Foster and husband Joe Mashburn; niece, Lindsay Foster; nephew, Robert Foster; daughter-in-law, Sara Radford; lifelong best friend, Junior Duncan; and countless friends and relatives.

An informal memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Teamsters Union, 45 Sardis Road, Asheville, NC 28806. Anyone who wants to share their memories of this amazing man are welcome.

The care of Mr. Radford has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
