Wilma Borges

Waynesville, Wilma Borges, age 80, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at The Homestead. Wilma was a native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, she had resided in Tampa, Florida and had lived in Haywood County for the past nine years. She was the daughter of the late Ceasar and Mary Cabral Barboza. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edmund Borges and a brother, Gilbert Barboza. Wilma enjoyed her grandchildren, cross stitching, cooking and reading. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Elias Borges; a son Raymond Borges (Nanette) of Waynesville; three grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua and Christopher Borges; a niece, Carolyn Pittsley (Horace) and a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Telzer. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Christopher Riehl officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
