Timothy Eckenrod

Canton – Timothy Lee “Tim” Eckenrod, 64, of the Dutch Cove Community, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.

Tim was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Tommy Lee and Thomasine Gibson Eckenrod.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Randall Eckenrod.  Tim worked as a crew leader with Evergreen Packaging and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness.  He was a 1974 graduate of Pisgah High School.  Tim served as a ministerial servant at Kingdom Hall and loved sharing God’s kingdom with others.  Along with his father and uncle, Tim worked in the Eckenrod family painting business from 1974 to 1985.  Tim’s love for certain special activities included, camping with friends, digging ramps for ramp picnics, swimming at the river and long drives around the parkway.

Special to Tim was his love for Cathy and her good cooking.  In his words “That is the flat-out best food ever.”  Tim passed away on his and Cathy’s special day, their 45th anniversary.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cathy Holcombe Eckenrod; two daughters, Gail Stevens and husband, Dana, of Clearwater, Florida and Autumn Willett and husband, Ben, of Waynesville; two sisters, Jamie Davis and Tina Price both of Canton; one brother, Keith Eckenrod of Canton; and one granddaughter, Emily Stevens.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 100 Counsel Place, Waynesville with Minister John Queen officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service..

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 100 Counsel Place, Waynesville, NC  28786.
