Candler – Thomas Haynes “Tom” Sims, 78, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at his residence.

Thomas was a native of Transylvania County and a son of the late Charles and Jaunita Norman Sims.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ed Sims; sister, Inez Watts; two nieces, Carol Ann Summons and Willie Mae Stevens; and one cousin, Paul Jones.  Thomas had twenty-three years of service at Eaton Corporation, four years at Richmoot Corporation, and six years at Cooper Bussman.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen Shepherd Sims; four nieces, Mickey Vick of Arkansas, Lillian Stump of Idaho, Linda Paulin of Idaho, and Kathy Watts of Michigan; two nephews, Danny Watts of Michigan and Jeff Watts of Missouri; and one first cousin, Reverend Jim Jones of Brevard.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jim Jones officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105 or to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC  29615.
