Theresa Berrong

Canton – Theresa Marie Jaynes Berrong, 74, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Mission Memorial Campus.

Theresa was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Howard Glenn and Ernestine Pinner Jaynes.  She was a member of the last graduating class of Canton High School in 1965 and a graduate of Cecil’s Business College.  Theresa worked for Asheville Orthopedic Associates for over 20 years and was a member of Plains United Methodist Church and choir member for many years.  She was a dedicated mother, wife, and grandma.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Berrong; daughters, Laura Abbe (Wayne), Tracy Howard (Adam), and Rebecca Frazier; grandchildren, Madeline, Lydia, and Kaitlynn Frazier; sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Terry Gibson; sister-in-law, Betty Prince; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Plains United Methodist Church with the Reverend David Green, Reverend Phillip Hurst, and Reverend Clay J. Morgan officiating.  Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to a Scholarship Fund for Madeline and Lydia Frazier at First Citizens Bank in Waynesville.
