Susie Diana James

November 15, 1958 ~ November 18, 2021 (age 63)

Obituary

Waynesville, Susan Diana James, age 63, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Mission Memorial Campus.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Hester Ann Duncan and the late Franklin "DeWitt" James. Susie was a member of Tuscola Highschool’s 1977 graduating class where she also played and excelled on the Varsity basketball team.  Susie was an awesome mom who was supportive of her children in all their endeavors both inside and outside of school. She was a loyal friend and a tireless worker, but her sense of humor made her the life of the party.  Susie enjoyed road trips and spending time on the shores of Lake Chatuge.

In addition to her mother, Susie is survived by her husband of 14 years, Doug Wyatt; her daughter, Bryttni Caldwell (Erik) of Waynesville; her son, Christopher Wayne Ashe of Charleston, South Carolina; brothers, Marvin James (Marsha) of Ackworth, Georgia and Charlie James (Audrey) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and grandchild, Piper Marie Caldwell.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery with Reverend Phillip Wyatt officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Monday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Upper Crabtree Community Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 537 Bald Creek Road, Clyde, NC 28721.

The care of Ms. James has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
