Sierra Sutton

Waynesville, Sierra Faith Sutton, 13, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Duke University Hospital.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of Kelsey Sutton.  Sierra was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Peggy Sue Brown; and grandfather, Leslie Jones, Sr.  She was a 7th grade student at Waynesville Middle School and was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church.  Sierra loved to sing, and her favorite color was light blue.  She enjoyed camping at the lake, dancing, karaoke and playing with her sister.  Sierra had the biggest heart and loved everyone.

In addition to her mother, Kelsey Sutton, and her fiance, Chris Mowry; she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Les and Stephanie Brown Jones, and their children, Cody and Kara Sutton; great-grandfather, David Kenneth Brown; great-grandmother, Margaret Smith Buchanan; great-grandparents, Jim and Joyce Banks; sister, Khyra Marie; great aunts and uncles, David and Cindy Brown, Carl and Tonya Scarpulla, Christopher and Cindy Jones and Ryan and Shelli Coggins; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins:  River, Willow, Bryiar, Orlando, Mia, Lina, Amber, Nevaeh, Bradon, Peyton, Casey, Brock, Knox, Titan, Tyler, Dakota, Jared, Troy, Dawson, Kendra, Corbin, and Sydney.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Scotty Patrick officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Hill cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
