Ruby Evans

Waynesville, Ruby Fisher Evans, age 86, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at her home.

A native of Jackson County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Mills Fisher.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Evans, who died in 2014; daughter, Linda Gail Evans Rathbone; three sisters, Ethel, Mildred and Dorothy; five brothers, Bill, Lewis, Ray, Burlin and Jerry Fisher.  Ruby was employed as a CNA with Autumn Care Nursing Home for 15 years.  She was a member of Scotts Creek Baptist Church in Sylva.  Ruby enjoyed camping, working in her flowers and in her garden, and most importantly was the time that she spent with her grandchildren.

Ruby is survived by a daughter, Vicky Messer (Bob); two sons, Ricky Evans (April) and Bobby Lee Evans (Laura); four sisters-in-law, Sandra Fisher, Linda Evans, Barbara Allison and Easter Greene (Earl); brothers-in-law, Richard Evans (Blanche), Jule Evans (Linda) and Junior Evans (Brenda); ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Chaplain Patrick Davis officiating.

The care of Mrs. Evans has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
