Maggie Valley – Robert Harvey Williams, Sr., 89, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Bob was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Claude E. and Eunice Silver Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye Brooks Williams, who passed away in 2009. Bob established Meadowbrook Resort in 1962 and later owned and operated Red Barn Convenience Store and Mini Golf in Dellwood, in addition to later opening and operating Crazy Bob’s Biker Stuff in 1997, also in Dellwood. He was an inventor, having held patents on a solar greenhouse, motorcycle chaps and a medical I.V. holder. In 2016 Bob, in conjunction with the State of North Carolina, helped establish the W.H. Silvers Game Lands in Maggie Valley to preserve elk and wildlife habitats. The game land includes approximately 3000 acres currently, and is named after Bob’s grandfather.

He is survived by a son, Robert Williams, Jr. and wife Jody of Maggie Valley; a daughter, Karen Collis of Waynesville; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Peachtree United Methodist Church with the Reverend Jon R. Snyder officiating..  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
