Robert Williams

Candler – Robert Eugene Williams, 93, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Mission Memorial Campus.

Robert was a native of and lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a son of the late Mack and Beatrice Davis Williams.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lee Suttle.  Robert attended Candler School and went to work for CP&L right out of high school and retired in 1986.  He was an easy-going guy and loved to tell stories of his past hunting and fishing adventures.  Robert also loved crossword puzzles.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 72 years, Betty Taylor Williams; one daughter, Janice Frye; one son, David Williams and Kathy Overman, all of Candler; a niece whom he loved as a daughter, Deborah Trueth (Jay) of Catonsville, Maryland; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren with a special mention to Betty Warren, his great-granddaughter who already misses her papaw dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Eric Hill officiating.
