Robert Harriger

Clyde – Robert Joseph Harriger, 92, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Charles George VA Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Martin and Katie Head Harriger.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy E. Harriger, who died in 1997.  Robert was retired from the United States Navy with 34 years of service and volunteered at Waynesville Hospice for 8 years.  He served in WWII, Korean War and Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Harriger; a daughter, Kathryn Harriger Arrants (Daniel) of Clyde; a son, Robert M. Harriger (Emily) of Morganton; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A full honors military service by the United States Navy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.

He believed in supporting his community and helping people.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Pathways in Waynesville (Pathwayscenter.org), 179 Hemlock St, Waynesville, NC 28786.
