Riley Inman, Sr.

Waynesville

Riley Lewis Inman, Sr. age 83, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Mission Memorial Campus.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Frank James and Mae Belle Inman.  In addition of his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen Inman, who died in September, 2021; three brothers, Roy Inman, Jay Pinner and Ruben Inman; and a niece, Rhonda Trantham.  Riley retired from Lea Industries as a clamp operator for 50 years and he also worked at Ghost Town as a bus and tram operator.  Riley attended Camp Branch Baptist Church.  He served with the Army National Guard.  Riley was a fishing enthusiast, fishing all over Florida and Western North Carolina, working in his yard and attending church with his family.  He enjoyed spending his summers in Alabama visiting family.

Riley is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Hord and her husband, James, Sandra Davis, and Symantha Inman, all of Waynesville; three sons, Lewis Inman, Melvin Inman and his wife, Terena, and Nik Inman and his wife, Destiny, all of Waynesville; two sisters, Jo Alexander, and her husband, Tommy, of Waynesville and Patricia DeHart, and her husband, Larry, of Bryson City; a brother, Troy Inman, and his wife, Laura, of Waynesville; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Cullen and Reverend George DeWitt officiating.  Burial will follow at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The care of Mr. Inman has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
