Canton – Richard Ernest Hendricks, 75, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

Richard was a native of Haywood County and a son of the late Toby and Hermie Bryant Hendricks.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hendricks.  Richard served in the North Carolina National Guard and retired in 1993 from Champion International with 30 years of service.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  Richard loved to fish and watch NASCAR as well as spending special time with his family, especially his two granddaughters, whom he dearly loved.  He will truly be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris Jackson Hendricks; one daughter, Janet Medford (Keith) of Canton; two brothers, Tommy Hendricks and wife, Sue, of Canton and Billy Hendricks and wife, Mary, of Clyde; and two granddaughters, Samantha and Gabriella Medford.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating.

Due to COVID-19 masks and social distancing will be observed.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
