Reverend Jack King

Lake Junaluska, Reverend Jack B King, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Mississippi, he was a son of the late Boyce and Catherine Copeland King.  Reverend King had resided in Haywood County for 23 years and was a Methodist Minister for many years retiring in 1998.  He was a member of Waynesville First United Methodist Church.  Reverend King graduated from Millsaps College and later received his Master of Divinity from Emory University.  He loved Duke basketball and Cardinals baseball and enjoyed repairing electronics.

Reverend King is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ilah King; daughter, Kim Clark, of Alpharetta, Georgia; three sons, Dr. Richard King, of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kevin King, of Mill Creek, Washington and Dr. Tim King (Madlen), of Alexandria, Virginia; two brothers, Steve King, of Booneville, Mississippi and Gary King, of Ripley, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Lily Rae, Christopher and Nicholas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Keith Turman and Reverend Kenneth Lambert officiating.  Inurnment will follow the service at Lake Junaluska Columbarium.

The care of Reverend King has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
