Ray Haney

Clyde - Ray Haney, age 82, of Hyder Mtn. Road, died Sunday, August 21, 2005, at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Homer and Iva Seay Haney. He was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Don and Bill. Mr. Haney served, for 14 years, with Haywood Christian Ministries as a volunteer and was a World War II United States Army Veteran in which he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was the Adult I Sunday school teacher at Clyde Wesleyan Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nell Killian Haney; one daughter, Jean Queen and her husband Keith of Clyde; one son, Jerry Ray Haney and his wife Linda of Killen, Al.; one brother, Glenn Haney of Gainesville, Ga.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2005 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Perry Hines and Reverend Edsel Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
