Ralph Fleming

Ralph Wallace Fleming, 84, of Waynesville, North Carolina passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023. His unwavering faith and love for the Lord carried him peacefully to his heavenly home. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, and respected businessman.

Ralph was born to parents Solomon "Sol" and Myrtle Fleming on November 30, 1938 in Inez, North Carolina. He moved to Waynesville in 1976 where he started R. W. Fleming Plumbing, Heating and Air. His relentless hard work and dedication allowed his business to thrive for more than 40 years.

Ralph was one of 16 siblings and he deeply cherished spending time with them at family reunions and at his home in Surry, VA. Family traditions that he helped establish will carry on for generations to come.

Ralph was preceded in death by his father, Sol; his mother, Myrtle; his brothers, Johnnie Fleming (Jane), Sol Jr Fleming, Howard Fleming, and Charles Fleming (Charlotte); his sisters, Ruth Gettings (Buddy), Ada Flippin (Billy), Arneta Haddock (Earl), and Elna Stansbury (Larry); and his son, Kelly Fleming (Carrie). Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, JT Fleming (Carol) and Bill Fleming (Martha); his sisters, Alma Walker (Freddy), Eva Woodfin (Gene), Mildred Morrison, Irma Gard (Ferrell) and Ann Spence (Bill), his children, Marie Harris (Tommy), Steve Fleming (Jan), Todd Fleming (Elizabeth), Gwen Ledbetter (William) and Pamela Fleming; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A service celebrating Ralph’s life will be held at the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m immediately followed with a service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bobby Rogers officiating.  Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The care of Mr. Fleming has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
