Patricia "Penny" Sutton

Clyde, Patricia Lee "Penny" Rouser Sutton, age 62, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Sunday, May 31, 2020.

A lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Ray and Betty Rouser.  She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Elsie Graham and Flora Ballinger.  Penny was born in Dover, Delaware.  She received her bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill in the Med Tech Program.  Penny was employed by Haywood Regional Hospital and Smoky Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation where she retired in 2019.  She was a member of Long’s Chapel United Methodist Church.  Penny enjoyed jigsaw puzzles’, cooking, watching western movies, gardening, horseback riding and was an avid reader.  She enjoyed all family gatherings and loved the outdoors, was a baseball mom and liked 4x4 trucks.

In addition to her parents Penny is survived by a son, Nolan Sutton, of Crabtree; two sisters, Jean Ann McCall (Jerry) and Dr. Nancy Freeman (Ken), all of Waynesville; and a granddaughter, Aspen Sutton.

Private graveside services will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.

The care of Penny has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
