Ned H. "Buster" Price

Waynesville, Ned Hilliard "Buster" Price was called home to heaven on June 6th, 2021. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Joe and Cordell Price, and siblings David and Johnny Price. Surviving are his sister Betty (Ken) Meade of Clyde, NC and brother Bill Price of Morristown, TN and sister-in-law’s Sandra and Gloria Price, along with many endeared nieces and nephews.

Buster was married to his beloved wife, Wenonah Jane "Janie" Price, since December of 1957, with whom he had two children Carol (Calvin) Stines of Asheville, NC and Danny Price of Waynesville, NC. In their nearly 64 years together, Buster and Janie spent priceless time with family and friends camping, fishing, and telling outrageous (mostly true) stories. Always the jokester, he leaves behind five knuckle-headed grandchildren, one great grandson, and two pet squirrels to carry on his shenanigans.

A methodical man of routine, he enjoyed his decaf black coffee, Nascar, lawn mowing, brown bread & banana sandwiches, and most recently - coloring. Born a fisherman, Buster spent his last full day earth-side on Lake Caulderwood with his brothers, son, and grandson catching his last mess of fish. Known best as a husband, “Daddy,” and “Papaw,” Buster valued his family above all else and leaves behind a legacy of love for all those he awaits beyond the pearly gates.

Services will be held at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville on Thursday, June 10th at 2:00pm with a visitation beforehand from 12:30-2:00pm. A longtime member of Green Valley Baptist Church, the family will receive guests at an after services gathering in the church’s banquet hall. Friends and family are encouraged to attend in celebration of a life well-lived and filled with love.
