Mortimer "Morty" Bacon, Iii

Waynesville, Mortimer Stiles Bacon, III, age 81, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at his residence.

A native of Connecticut, he was a son of the late Mortimer and Dorothy M. Kalber Bacon.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Collen Mintz and Karen Mintz; and step-son, Chris Mintz.  Morty was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church; he enjoyed taking care of is lawn, building bird houses, feeding the birds and he loved flowers.  Morty was a great husband, taking care of Dorothy and a wonderful father.

Morty is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dorothy Bacon; one daughter; one son; two stepsons; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a grandson, Jonah Cogburn, who took care of Morty and Dorothy that they raised.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Allens Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Scotty Patrick and Reverend Seth Early officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Allens Creek Baptist Church, General Fund, 549 Allens Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The care of Mr. Bacon has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
