Michael Jaynes

Waynesville, Michael "Mike" Gene Jaynes, age 67, of Josiah Drive, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Pearl Howell Jaynes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Jaynes, who died in 2011; sister, Juanita Garland; and brothers, Billy and J.T. Jaynes. He was employed by Harold Bryson Construction as a heavy equipment operator. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, and storytelling about old times. He is survived by a daughter, Anessa Jaynes, of the Iron Duff Community; son, Michael Jaynes, Jr. and his wife, Tracey, of Waynesville; sisters, Patricia Evans, Genevieve Russell, and Kathleen Green; brothers, Carroll and Jack Jaynes; three grandsons; and two step-grandsons. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating.
