Mary Francis

Waynesville, Mary Evelyn Plemmons Francis, age 89, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

A lifelong native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Jay Murray Plemmons.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.W. "Joe" Francis, who died in 2013; and her brother, Bill Plemmons.  Mary was an active member of Calvary Road Baptist Church and a member of the choir.  She loved singing and serving the Lord with a joyful heart. Mary was also a member of the Pioneer Auxiliary Club through Bell South.

Mary is survived by her niece, Vicky Rogers; four nephews, Doug Plemmons, Mike Plemmons, Tony Plemmons, and Gary Lee Francis.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Ratcliff Cove Community Cemetery with Reverend J.D. Grant officiating.

Since 2013, Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center has been Mrs. Francis’ home.  The family would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care provided these past nine years.

The care of Mrs. Francis has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
