Waynesville

Waynesville, Margaret Barnwell Ford, age 94, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, at Smoky Mountain Health & Rehabilitation Services.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Robert George and Annie Sales Barnwell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband, Dewey Edison Ford, who died in 2000; two sisters, Marie Stallings and Ruby Barnwell; and two brothers, Leamer "Bud" Barnwell and C.B. Barnwell

One of seven children, Margaret was raised on picturesque Barnwell Farm & Sawmill and learned the value of hard work.  Raising her own family was her life’s biggest accomplishment.  She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed sewing projects.  This proud member of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church also loved the beauty and colors of flowers.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Gail Rogers, and her husband, Bill, of Clyde; her son, Richard Ford of Waynesville; sister, Beatie Morgan; brother, James Barnwell; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021, at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery with Reverend Jay Jones officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church, 1300 Ratcliff Cove Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The care of Mrs. Ford has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
