Obituary

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, Lisa Shearon Keener of Candler, passed away at the age of 59.

Lisa was born on December 4, 1961, in Louisburg, NC to the late Johnny Clyde and Elizabeth Kearney Shearon.  She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina in 1985 and practiced nursing for over 36 years. On October 29, 2006, Lisa married Gary Keener.

Lisa loved her church, The Rock, and was an active member.  She loved dogs, Scottish Deerhounds being closest to her heart. She loved the beach and collecting seashells.  Lisa loved Christmas and was known for her Christmas trees and for collecting ornaments.  She also loved collecting china.  She was known for being a great nurse and for always offering assistance in times of need.

Lisa is preceded in death by both of her parents.  She is survived by her husband, Gary, her brother, Jay (Debbie), her sister, Hope (James Ramsey), her aunt and uncle, Steve and Sandy Lamm, an adopted sister and nephews and a niece.  She is also survived by her special “Mom”, Trudy Hyldburg and her lifelong friend, Julie Young.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at The Rock on 273 Monte Vista Road, Candler, NC.  Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Black Mountain Home for Children, 804 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.

The care of Mrs. Keener has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Candler.
