Linda Romaine Wilson

April 24, 1956 — November 17, 2021

Clyde

Clyde, Linda Romaine Lanning Wilson, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County she was a daughter of the late Melvin Albert and Mary Elizabeth Wyatt Lanning.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Everette Wilson; four sisters, Ardith Wyatt, Ella Mae Stevenson, Alma Mitchell, and Sarah Lunsford; three brothers, John Henry Bumgarner, Glen Bumgarner and Harold Lanning.  Romaine has been a dedicated employee of Evergreen Paper for the last 42 years.  She was on the Board of Directors for ten years when it was Blue Ridge Paper from 1999 until 2009 and was an active member of the 507 Union for 40 years.  Romaine was a true matriarch and was the glue that held her beloved family together.  She was a woman of integrity, grace, and strength always putting her family first.  When she was away from the mill, her favorite past times included working the flowers with Sam, cooking delicious meals for family, and doting on her amazing grandchildren.  Romaine and Sam each evening enjoyed rocking on the porch with a fresh cup of coffee and catching a quick glimpse of the buzzing hummingbirds.  If she was vacationing, you better believe Romaine was on the beach.  Whether it was Destin, the Outer Banks, Alabama or Myrtle, Romaine loved the ocean.  She leaves a legacy of love and will forever be in the hearts of her family.

Romaine is survived her husband of 38 years, Sam Gaddis; three sons, Shane Wilson, and his wife, Jessica, of St. Mary’s, Ontario, Chisum Wilson, of Waynesville and Cheyenne Wilson, and his wife, Rebekah, of Waynesville; sister, Lily Lanning, and her husband, Lester, of Waynesville; two brothers, Kenneth Lanning, and his wife, Patsy, of Canton and Albert Lanning, and his wife, Jean, of Waynesville; brother-in-law, Jim Lunsford; and three grandchildren, Avigail, Quintin and Landon Wilson.
