Linda Mullin

September 20, 1946 — July 13, 2020

Linda Ann Mullin, 73, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020. After a valiant wrestling match, she is finally at peace with Jesus. Her great fear of death has been replaced with awe, wonder, and worship.

Linda was born on Friday, September 20, 1946 in New Jersey to the late Stephen and Marie Hoffman Wysocki.

Linda was an intelligent, strong willed woman with a great love of learning. She completed nursing school through Rutgers University, and moved to Belgium to begin medical school and follow her dream of becoming a doctor. Before completing that degree, she returned home to work as an emergency-room nurse in Newark, NJ during the race riots. After suffering an occupational injury, she was forced to give up her medical career. Her disability however, never stopped her. In the mid-1980’s Linda opened one of the first home-movie and video game rental stores, Reel-One-Video, after moving to Asheville. When that closed, she obtained her paralegal degree from Blanton’s Business College. She found joy in volunteering her time at the Western Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP) as a case-manager, as well as serving on the board of Loving Food Resources. One of her final ventures was opening Rainbows End, a bookstore in downtown Asheville that catered to the LBGTQ community.

She is survived by two daughters, Kelly Roark and her husband, Matt, and Susan Hughes and her husband, Thomas; a brother, Robert Wysocki and his wife, Bee; and four grandchildren, Kylee and Kenzie Roark, to whom she was known as “Mimi”, and Parker and Joseph Hughes, to whom she was known as “Grandma”.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the chapel of Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Four Seasons Foundation, 211 N. Main St. Hendersonville, NC 28792 or online at www.FourSeasonsCFLFoundation.org
