Waynesville, Geneva June Frady Shope, 98, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.

June was a native North Carolinian, moving to the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina in mid-1920’s.  She was the daughter of the late Harvey Jackson and Carrie Hopkins Frady.

June is survived by her son, David Nelson Shope, and his wife, Martha (Marty), of Charlotte; three grandchildren, David Shope, Jr., Katherine Corwin Shope (Jeff Blackwell), and William Justin Shope (Nga Shope); and four great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by many beloved cousins; dear friends and two most special neighbors.

A private memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2020 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home.  Burial will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Otto, NC at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood County Emergency Medical Services, 215 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786 or Open Door Ministries, 32 Commerce Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
