Joyce Birchfield

Bethel – Joyce Webb Birchfield, 84, was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 after an extended battle with Alzheimers.

Joyce was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Amos and Mabel Pace Webb.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Samuel Birchfield; two sisters, Judy Grubb and Drami “Dee” Stepp.  Joyce was employed at Dayco International for over 19 years.  She met the love of her life, Grady, at the age of 13 and they married May 16, 1953 when Joyce was 17 years old.  They were married for 50 years until Grady’s death in 2004.

She is survived by one daughter, Greta Birchfield Clark (Jim) of Talbott, Tennessee; two sons, Ronny Dale Birchfield (Mary) and Ricky Lefaine Birchfield (Patricia), all of Canton; three sisters, Juanita Watson (Johnny) of Pisgah Forest, Loretta Warwick and Sharon Drake Reece (James Paul), all of Brevard; one brother, Carroll Webb (Linda) of Hendersonville; eight grandchildren, Adam Birchfield, Taryn Joiner (Alex), Nekole Birchfield, Brooke Carr (Tyler), Trey Clark, Ciera Clark, Christopher Phillips, and Amanda Birchfield; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Shelly Webb officiating.  Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
