Waynesville, Johnny Dallas Lewis, age 71, passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late John and Carene Smathers Lewis.  Johnny worked 28 years for Dayco and became a barber in 1998.  He was the owner of John’s Barber Shop for 15 years.  Johnny was a member of Balsam Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and on many committees.  He enjoyed working in his yard, detailing cars, riding his tractor, and was always ready to talk to anyone.  Johnny never met a stranger.  He loved his family dearly, especially his five grandchildren.  Johnny also served his community well by being a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years.

Left to cherish their memories are his loving wife of 46 years, Kathy McCall Lewis; two daughters, Christal Lewis Giese (Sean), of Winston-Salem and Keisha Lewis Goodman, of Waynesville; sister, Beverly Lewis Miller ("Dooley"), of Waynesville; two sisters-in-law, Judy Messer and Wilma Arrington (Joe); five grandchildren, Addison and Finn Goodman and Cooper, Camden and Carter Giese.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021 in the sanctuary at Balsam Baptist Church, 105 Heavenly Road, Balsam, North Carolina with Reverend Greg Cullen and Reverend Tommy Carlisle officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Fisher, Ed Wike, Ed Shelton, Buddy Cochran, Hayes Fisher, Roger Wright, Austin Arrington and Adam Gunter.  Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Balsam Baptist Church and John Rhinehart.

Due to Covid-19, all protocols and mandates are required to be followed, including masks within the church sanctuary.  The service will be live streamed through Balsam Baptist Church Facebook Live or broadcast on your car radio in the church parking lot.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Balsam Baptist Church, P.O. Box 280, Balsam, NC 28707

The care of Mr. Lewis has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
