John Foster

Sarasota, Florida – John Lee “Johnny Foster, 59, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Family Extended care of Sarasota.

Johnny was a native of Buncombe County, and son of the late Robert and Dorothy June Warren Foster.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey Lane Foster.  Johnny moved to Florida in 1987 and was employed by Wellcraft Boat Manufacturing and Tropicana Beverage Company from which he retired with 23 years of service in Florida.  He was also a former employee of Pisgah View Ranch, the Buncombe County Schools, WNC Pallett and Beacon Manufacturing.  Johnny was an avid UNC Tar Heel fan as well as the Carolina Panthers.  He was a gun enthusiast, loved fishing, watching football and enjoyed a home cooked meal in the company of other people.  Johnny loved his dogs Chase and Chance.

He is survived by his son, Jarred Foster of Sarasota, Florida; Jarred’s mother, Kerry Boyer of Bradenton, Florida; one sister, Kathy Mayberry of Black Mountain; one brother, William J. “Joe” Foster and his wife, Cynthia, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; two nieces, Megan Foster and Monica Klein; and two nephews, Cody Foster and Kai Foster Harrison.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Ty Allen officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home in Canton.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SARGE’S Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 854, Waynesville, NC  28786.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, masks and social distancing will be observed.
