April 26, 1930 — January 20, 2020

Jimmy Seymour Freeman of Waynesville, NC, age 89, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020, with family in Peoria, Arizona.

Born in Waynesville to the late Thomas and Martha Quilliams Freeman, he was reared with 5 siblings, all of whom preceded him in passing: William (Bill), Jack and Johnny Freeman, Hilda Frances Jennings and Thomasine Dillard.

Jimmy learned his timber harvesting skills in Sedro Woolley, Washington in the 50s. He married and produced two daughters. The family moved to Southeast Alaska in 1962. He spent his occupation as cutting crew supervisor which he enjoyed for 33 years until retirement in 1995. A very dangerous vocation, he saved many lives with his quick actions and safety first practices. He attended to many injured and ill people during his time as a volunteer EMT and ambulance driver, while working in Petersburg, Alaska. Retiring, he returned to the place of his birth, Waynesville, where he took up landscaping to remain actively working. In 2015, he was moved to Arizona to live with his daughter, Julie, where he peacefully enjoyed the sunny and restful remaining years of his life.

A loving father, he spent much time talking and visiting with his daughters at every opportunity. His quick wit, humor and generosity endeared him to all whose lives he brightened. He is survived by his two daughters, Julie (Keith) Buonafede of Peoria, AZ and Tracy (David) Craver of Northglenn, CO, his grandchildren, Aaron Bernardino of Surprise, AZ, Joshua, Jenine and Jessica Craver of Denver, CO. Also, his beloved niece, Gwen Freeman Nicholson of Webster, NC, who helped him tremendously, niece Jackie Freeman, nephews, Tim Freeman, Tommy Freeman of Waynesville and other extended family. According to his wishes, no service will be held. Interment is at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesville, NC.
