Jerry Venable

Canton – Jerry Dewane Venable, 75, passed away on Saturday April 9, 2022 at CarePartners Hospice in Asheville.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son on the late Cletus and Lois Nelson Venable.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Venable.  Jerry enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, camping and watching sports, westerns, and the stock market.  He was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church.  Jerry was a United States Navy veteran.

He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Venable, of Canton; a son, Jerry David “Chip” Venable (Kristina), of Concord; a sister, Arleen Whitley, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and six grandchildren Vanessa, Alex, Brooke, Josh, Braydon and Britton.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Cane Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Chad Bennett officiating.  Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
