Janice Freitag was the daughter of Floyd Edward and Florence Josephine (O’Neil) Perrizo.  She was born on March 19, 1936 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.  She was one of five children.  Janice was raised in the Catholic Church and remained Catholic until her later years when she joined Bethany Lutheran Church with her husband, Dennis Freitag.

Janice received her kindergarten through twelfth grade education in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.  After graduation, she attended nursing school and worked as a nurse in the hospital in Redwood Falls.  Janice, and her husband, Dennis, and their family, moved to Leesburg, Florida in 1960.  Janice was a stay-at-home mom until their youngest daughter was in high school.  At that time, Janice returned to nursing and provided home healthcare and love to patients and their families for 30 years in the Leesburg area.  After the death of her husband, Dennis, she relocated to North Carolina and lived with her daughter, Julie, and son-in-law, Al.  She attended classes at the Franklin Senior Center.

Janice had many hobbies.  She enjoyed dancing with her husband, Dennis, card playing, and shopping.  Janice and Dennis were members of the Moose Lodge for many years.  She also loved to bake; one of her special recipes, Christmas Nutbread, was from her mother.

Janice was married to Dennis Freitag for 60 years, and he preceded her in death in 2017.  They are survived by her daughter, Julie Thompson, and her husband, Al Thompson; her daughter, Tamara Hayman, and her husband, John Hayman; and her daughter, Lynette Fields, and her boyfriend, Doug Scott.  They also have seven grandchildren:  Justin Thompson, Joshua Hayman (Lindsay Hayman), Jacob Hayman, Tessa Hayman, Lindsay Hayman, Robert (Trey) Fields, and John Fields.  Janice and Dennis have one great, grandchild, Olivia Hayman.  Janice is survived by her brother, David Perrizo, her sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother - Leroy Perrizo, her sister - Garnita Bleichner Sutton, and her brother - Pat Perrizo.

Janice was jovial and kind.  Blessed be her memory.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in the name of Janice Mary Freitag to either Bethany Lutheran Church in Leesburg, Florida or Macon County Senior Services in Franklin, North Carolina.
