Janet Nichols

Waynesville, Janet D. Nichols, age 62, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of Roy Galloway and Sally Crawford Galloway.  Janet was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Stephen W. and Sadie Viola Davis Galloway;  maternal grandparents, Augustus C. (Teen) and Nellie Crawford; aunt and uncle, Reverend Gay and Evelyn Chambers; and several aunts and uncles.  She was a member and baptized at Dellwood Baptist Church.  Janet was a 1977 graduate of Tuscola High School and graduated from Haywood Community College with a business degree in 1982.  She was a dear mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.  Most importantly she was a beloved Mimi to her grandchildren.  Janet loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed having large family gatherings.  She was employed for 16 years with Haywood County Soil and Water Conservation District and retired to become a homemaker of which she loved.  Janet loved visiting Civil War Sites and was a genealogy and history enthusiast.  She loved crossword puzzles, word searches, reading and sewing.  Janet played the piano and enjoyed singing.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, M. Darrell Nichols; son, Jacob Nichols (Emily) and Jovi Nichols (Kerrington); sister, Tammy Galloway Inman (Chris); brothers, Randy and Scott Galloway; granddaughter, Samantha Rose Nichols; grandsons, Braylin and Keaton Nichols; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Mehaffey officiating.  Burial will follow at Dellwood Cemetery.

The care of Mrs. Nichols has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
