Balsam, James F. Maynor, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, May 10, 2021 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.

James was a native of Swain County. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Jones and Louise Harris.

James started driving a truck for Barber’s Orchard at the age of 16 and continued driving for many years as a dump truck driver and over the road driver.  He enjoyed boating and especially drinking coffee and socializing at the tire shop.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian Price Maynor; a son, Eddie Maynor, and his wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Vickie Bradley, and her husband, Tim; a sister; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylva.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
