Waynesville, Jackee Frazier Brown passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at the Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation facility.

Jackee was born in Waynesville on March 6, 1957.  She was preceded in death by her parents Earl “Red” Frazier and Mary Ruby Frazier.  Jackee spent her early life in the Atlanta area.  She began riding when she was two and subsequently became a nationally known junior equestrian.  Jackee traveled the eastern United States with Red competing in numerous horse shows.   She and her father trained two horses that competed in the Olympics.  After graduating from West Georgia College she lived in Atlanta, New York City and Palm Beach Florida.  She entered the ladies fashion industry working at the Omni in Atlanta and Hattie’s of New York.

Jackee returned to Waynesville in 1986 and assisted her father in his horse business on Plott Creek.  In addition, she began working with Colonial Florist, under the tutelage of Jack Nichols, she became a very accomplished and well-known florist.  Jackee opened her own store on Main Street known as Jackee’s Petals.  Thereafter her interest returned to ladies fashion and she became a salesperson at Hale’s

Her interest in flowers never waned.  She worked freelance as a wedding consultant and was the florist for Harrah’s in its early years.  Jackee began a cooking career in the 90’s traveling to cooking schools in Italy, Mexico as well as the US.  She catered numerous local events and weddings.  She was an avid golfer and long-time member of Laurel Ridge Country Club.

Jackee’s last years were spent working in retail on Main Street for Davis Furniture and Spencerberry Antiques.

Jackee is survived by her husband Gavin Brown whom she married in 1990, her sister Lucinda Ledford of Clyde; three aunts: Nina Allison, Margaret Jenkins and Pat Swanger, who along with her husband Jack became surrogate parents to Jackee.

The family is sincerely thankful to the staff at Maggie Valley Nursing Home and Haywood Regional Medical Center for the exceptional care provided to Jackee.

Services and a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

The care of Jackee has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
