Jack Sellers

November 22, 1937 — November 14, 2020

Canton, Henry Jack Sellers, 82, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Asheville Speciality Hospital.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Willie and Letha Henson Sellers.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Louise “Pud” Banks Sellers, who died on October 1, 2020; and three brothers, Edward, Steve and Robert Sellers.

He was a graduate of Bethel High School and retired from Champion International in 1999 with 40 years of service.  Jack was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church serving in numerous capacities.  Pisgah High School athletics was important to Jack and he was active in fundraising and support of their activities.  Being an outdoorsman, Jack enjoyed his farming and raising cattle.  He was an avid gardener and found pleasure in being able to share his produce with others.  He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren and everyone at every opportunity.  Jack was a United States Army veteran proudly serving his country in Germany.

He is survived by three sons, Carlton “Cooter” Sellers (Lisa), of Canton, Mark “Poss” Sellers (Candie), of Clyde, and Gary “Otis” Sellers, of Cruso; a sister, Marlene Drake, of Canton, two sisters-in-law, Audrey Worley, of Canton and Betty Jean Hampton, of Clyde; two brothers, Terry Sellers (Judy), of Canton and Jimmy Sellers, of Brevard; a brother-in-law, Bill Worley, Sr., of Clyde; three grandchildren, Will Sellers (Rachel), Lauren Sutton (Dylan) and Bailey McCurry (Kaleb); one great-granddaughter, Madeline Sellers; and many special nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at New Cruso Cemetery with the Reverend Jack W. Collins and Reverend Christopher Willett officiating.

Due to Covid-19 masks and social distancing will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Haywood County Schools Foundation, Louise Sellers Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1230 North Main Street, Waynesville, NC  28786 or to Morning Star United Methodist Church Improvement Fund, 2535 Dutch Cove Road, Canton, NC  28716.
