Canton – Jack London Hawkins, Jr. passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 in Canton, North Carolina.

Jack was born in Georgetown, South Carolina and grew up in Jacksonville, North Carolina.  He was the son of the late Jack and Miriam Pinner Hawkins.  He was a graduate of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina with a BS degree in Pulp and Paper Technology.  He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army in Germany.  Until his retirement in 1999, Jack was an employee for 34 years with Champion Papers.  He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman and gardener.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Summey Hawkins; two sons, Jay Hunter Hawkins and Jason London Hawkins, both of New Orleans, Louisiana; and a sister, Donnie Lockleer of Jacksonville, North Carolina.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Canton Central United Methodist Church, PO Box 792, Canton, NC  28716, of which he was a member, or to The Gideons International, Haywood East Camp, PO Box 1204, Canton, NC  28716.
