Isaac Sutton, Jr.

Clyde, Isaac Luther "I.L." Sutton, Jr., passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Haywood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Haywood County he was a son of the late Isaac Luther and Emma Gentry Sutton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Snow and Mary Rogers and four brothers, Robert, Charles, Ray and Weldon Sutton.  I.L. proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 until 1948.  He enjoyed trout fishing, bluegrass music and eating at Granny’s Chicken in Cherokee with Lorena.  He retired from Champion with 34 years of service and upon retirement he joined East Waynesville Baptist Church and became a deacon of the Church.

I.L. is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorena Ethel Haynes Sutton; daughter, Barbara G. Kay, of Asheville; four sons, Gary D. Sutton and David L. Sutton (Donna) all of Clyde; Steven T. Sutton (Linda), of Myrtle Beach and Michael E. Sutton (Kathy), of Clyde; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside services will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2020.

The care of Mr. Sutton has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes
