Ida Mcclain

Waynesville, Ida Mae Ganzert McClain, age 93, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 under the care of Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native of Richmond, Virginia she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Rosetta Ford Ganzert.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Lee McClain whom she married on the last day of World War II, VJ Day, on August 15, 1945. She moved to Miami, Florida where she worked as a personnel supervisor for Kmart.  Ida and Bob moved to Waynesville, North Carolina where they retired.  They were both active members of Allens Creek Baptist Church.

Ida is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Lee Ladkani and her husband, William, of Ocala, Florida, Rosa Lee Bevis, and her companion, Tom Guthrie, of Waynesville, and Betty Jean Remy, and her husband, Jim, of Brooksville, Florida; seven beloved grandchildren, Erika Nelson, Kristina Cope, Ernest Ladkani, Jennifer Fryns, Robert Ladkani, Britney Remy, and Nicolas Remy; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with the Reverend Scotty Patrick officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Greenhill Cemetery.
