Waynesville, Hettie Owen Pierce, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at her residence.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Daniel and Mary Magdeline Rabb Estes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, D.L. Owen, who died in 1996 and her second husband, Frank Pierce, who died in 2018; sister, Nancy Derrick; and a brother, Daniel Estes.  Hettie worked at Lake Logan Lodge for 30 years; and then was the owner of Ms. Hettie Restaurant prior to retirement.

Hettie is survived by her daughter, Sherry Cseledy (Tom); son, Jeff Owen (Kim); three sisters, Lois Smith, Louise Williams and Regina Frances; four grandchildren, Kristian Hawkins (Kelly), Logan Brown (Amanda) Hunter Cseledy (Brooke) and Joey Marcus; and two great-grandchildren, Kendall Inman and Kimber Hawkins; step-children and their family, Lynne Berdini (John), Laurie Boszczuk (Larry), Lorna Gatti (Richard) and Bill Pierce (Dot); eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren .

Private family services will be held.

The care of Mrs. Pierce has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
