Henry Holer

January 20, 1919 — October 31, 2009

Waynesville, Henry Holer, age 90, of 133 Winchester Drive, died on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Care Partners Hospice in Asheville. Mr. Holer was born in Rexford, Montana and was a prior resident of Layette, Indiana for 35 years before moving to Haywood County in 1984. He was the son of the late Frederich and Emma Felber Holer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Fred Holer and two sisters, Charlotte Freeman and Evelyn Covay. He was a US Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Junaluska Golf Club for several years and a member of the Lions Club for 60 years and delivered Meals on Wheels for over 20 years. Henry was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Kathryn "Kay" Holer; a son, Henry Holer, and his wife, Myra, of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Linda Alexander of Waynesville, NC and Lisabeth Weyls, and her husband, David, of Noblesville, IN; sister, Dorothy Liponi, of San Diego, CA; four grandchildren, Alexis W. Linn and her husband, Alex, Zachary Weyls, Mary E. Holer and Melissa Holer; one great grandson, Will Linn and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Maple Grove United Methodist Church with Dr. James Mackey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 466 Marshall Street, Waynesville, NC 28786, Haywood Christian Ministries, 150 Banner Avenue, Waynesville, NC 28786 or to a Charity of one's choice.
