Hazel Caldwell

November 7, 1928 — January 19, 2021

Waynesville

Waynesville, Hazel Green Caldwell, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A life-long resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Floyd and Georgia Fulbright Green.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dempsey Caldwell, who died in 2007; and a sister, Vegie Hockstra.  Hazel grew up in the Panther Creek community and graduated from Fines Creek High School.  She lived her adult life in Waynesville and retired from Dayco Corporation with 33 years of service.  Hazel enjoyed socializing on the phone and flower gardening.  She was of the Baptist faith.  Hazel left us to join Jack and her little white dog Happy and she will be missed very much.

Hazel is survived by her niece, Helen Pittman.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing will be observed.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Donna Green, 166 Weaver Russell Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
