Hallie Franklin Shaver, 86, of Enka died on January 7, 2021, and has gone home to his Heavenly Father. Hallie was the son of the late Hallie Newton and Bessie B. Fisher Shaver. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Virginia Sue Banks Shaver in 2015; brother, Paul J. Shaver and his wife, Louise; sister, Elizabeth H. Shaver.
Hallie served in the National Guards, Co. L, 29th division in Staunton, Virginia for a year and a half before enlisting in the US Air Force and USAFSS for four years prior to his honorable discharge. He retired from BASF Enka in 1993 after 21 years of service in mechanical engineering. He was a life member of WCARS with station call NC4R and a member of ARRL.
A member of Pole Creek Baptist Church since April 1979, Hallie had served as usher chairman for many years and was ordained in 1968 as a Deacon at Lakewood Baptist Church, Black Mountain, NC.
He is survived by a son, Charles N. Shaver (Latricia) of Alexander, NC; daughter, Angela Benton (Danny) of Brevard, NC; sisters, Emma Jane Lloyd and Nancy Quesinberry (Buford) both of Staunton, VA; step-daughter, Gloria Autry of Leicester; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Pole Creek Baptist Church. The Reverends Ben Heise and Dennis Thurman will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held at a later date in Banks Cemetery, Burnsville, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pole Creek Baptist Church, 96 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715.
