Grady Brown

Grady Brown, age 72, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Pearl and Nora Mae Jones Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Worley and two grandchildren, Megan Capes and Daniel Worley. Grady enjoyed working as a brick mason with his brother, Harley, and woodworking in his spare time. He had a special place in his heart for his family, especially his children. He is survived by his wife, Anna Lee Thomas Brown; a son, Tommy Rice of Canton; five daughters, Molly Bennett and her husband, Randy, of Canton, Celena Messer and her husband, Phillip, of Clyde, Amy and Crystal Cogdill, and April Messer all of Waynesville; five sisters, Irene Brown and her husband, Bobby Gibson, of Clyde, Hilda Fish and her husband, Charles, of Canton, Mary Crawford of Newberry, SC, Geneva Summey and Betty Williams both of Canton, and Lee Beauchemin of Cowpin, SC; two brothers, Harley Brown of Canton, and Pastor Calvin Brown and his wife, Teresa, of Romulus, Michigan; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Clark Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Irene Brown, 770 Incinerator Road.
