Florence Caldwell

Asheville – Florence Brooks Caldwell, 89, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at Aston Park Health Care Center.

Florence was a native of Haywood County and a daughter of the late Fletcher and Ester Hyde Brooks.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doice Caldwell, who died in 2003; a daughter, Debbie Caldwell; and four brothers.  Florence was a former employee of American Enka Corporation and a member of Long Branch Baptist Church.  She had a giving heart, having been a foster parent and caregiver to many.

She is survived by two daughters, Lynn Fox and husband, Gary, of Leicester and Donna Griffith and husband, Danny, of Canton; two sons, Larry Caldwell and wife, Lynn and Gary Caldwell, all of Canton; one sister, Brooke Golloher of Clark Range, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Christopher Willett and Reverend Gordon Ball officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2206 Bear Creek Road, Leicester, NC  28748.
