Edith Brown

Edith Oliver Brown, age 67, of Crawford Creek Road, died August 14, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Swain County, she was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Luvenia Baines Oliver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett W. Brown, who died July 7, 2012. Edith was the former owner and operator of Edie's Beauty Salon and she enjoyed canning and preparing food for others. She was a Christian who loved the Lord and enjoyed gospel music. She is survived by three daughters, Lisa Dawkins and her husband, Fairly, of Stanley; Misty Anderson and friend, David Bailey, of Belmont; and Dione St. John and her husband, Jay, of Charlotte; one son, James Frady, Sr. and his fiancé, Angela Hall, of Stanley; son-in-law, Earl Anderson; one sister-in-law, Belvie Brown King, of Leicester; one niece, Jean King of Leicester; seven grandchildren, Nikki Parr, James Frady, Jr., Nicholas, Frady, Roxie Mundy, Brittany Dawkins, Cameron Gulledge, and Victoria St. John; and one great-granddaughter, Allie Parr. Private family services were held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, with the Reverend Tyler Nations officiating. Burial was held at New Cruso Cemetery.
