Dorothy (Docky) Mccachren

Mrs. Dorothy Mae (Docky) McBride McCachren passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at her home in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Carl and Florence Croom McBride; and two of seven siblings, William Carl McBride and Sally McBride Deweese.

She was originally from Waynesville where she met and married her husband Clifford Mitchell McCachren (Tip) who was working in Haywood County at that time as a Soil Conservation Scientist for the state of North Carolina.  Dorothy was of the Presbyterian faith.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Tip; son Shane and wife Stephanie of Richmond, Virginia; and three grandchildren, Shane, Jr., Kasey, and Ivy Mae; five siblings, Louise Chambers, Florence Owen, Katrina Jones, Robert McBride, and Grace Ensley.

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 10 in the chapel of the Garrett-Hillcrest mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Mrs. McCachren’s memory to the “For Such a Time as This” senior adult Sunday School class ministry (Esther 4:14) at Dellwood Baptist Church, Attn:  Lisa Allen, 115 Hall Drive, Waynesville, NC 28785.

The care of Mrs. McCachren has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
