Dorothy Mcgaha

Hot Springs, Dorothy Lucille Rathbone McGaha, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.

A native of Haywood County and resided in Madison County since 1957, she was the daughter of the late John and Oma Rathbone.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee McGaha, who died in 2006; and a brother Wayne Rathbone.  Dorothy worked alongside her husband Lee on their farm and at the McGaha Grocery Store on Meadow Fork.  She was a wonderful seamstress and loved quilting and gardening and working in her flowers.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Susan Seay, of Clyde; son, Steve McGaha (JoAnna), Candler; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Rathbone, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Jamie Velasquez (Rolando), Brandon McGaha (Shasta), Hallie Black (Spencer) and Heath Seay (Kayla); two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Danielle Velasquez.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2019 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

The care of Mrs. McGaha has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes.
